San Francisco Day 2 - Exploring Fisherman's Wharf

Sunday was our big day to explore, and we covered a lot of ground. We started by checking out the iconic cable cars near Ghirardelli Square, then headed over to the square itself for ice cream sundaes.

After a quick stop back at the hotel, the girls and I “snitched” (Marley’s word for “ditched”) the rest of the group and went off on our own little adventure to visit a spy shop. Once we were done, we rejoined everyone to explore an old submarine docked in the marina.

Dinner that night was at Boudin, the famous 175-year-old sourdough bakery in San Francisco. I had been hyping up their clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl for months—and it absolutely lived up to the expectations. We watched the bakers at work and enjoyed our soups in bread bowls while overlooking the Wharf.

After dinner, we wandered down to the Ferris wheel for a view of San Francisco from above, then made our way to Pier 39 for rides and street performances. It was quite the day. We walked miles along Fisherman’s Wharf—from Ghirardelli Square all the way to Pier 39.

The kids were tired but still buzzing with excitement about exploring the city. Faith summed it up perfectly: “This city has it all—food, entertainment, history, and exploring. But I don’t like the weather… so I don’t want to live here.”
