This is a Father's day I'll never forget. We slept in and checked out of our lodge later than usual. Instead of diving right back into exploring Yellowstone, we opted for a slow, relaxing morning. We found the perfect spot in the Lake Yellowstone Hotel lobby, where we read, played games, and enjoyed the view overlooking the lake. Just outside the large picture window, a bison was casually hanging out no more than a hundred yards away!
Later, we set out to explore some hot springs, visit Old Faithful, and check out an off-the-beaten-path area—only to find it closed due to an osprey nest. Still, it was great to get the lay of the land for when we return.
The most memorable part of Father's Day, though, came next. We arrived in West Yellowstone for three nights of glamping at Under Canvas. It's a real adventure—sleeping in a tent with no electricity, but still having our own bathroom!
After a great dinner at the lodge, we roasted marshmallows by the fire, then settled into our tent for the night. We kept warm by stoking the wood-burning stove and tucking hot water bottles into our beds.
Truly, a Father’s Day for the record books.
