Today started off a little differently—no nature hikes, no wildlife sightings, no Yellowstone road trip adventures. Instead, we made the drive to Rexburg, Idaho. While not a typical vacation destination, the hour-long trip had two important purposes: 1) we needed to stock up on supplies—groceries, clothes, sunglasses, medicine, and other odds and ends—and 2) we have a very persuasive 12-year-old who needed more film.
To our surprise, Rexburg turned out to be a charming stop. In between refilling the cooler and checking off our shopping list, we explored the town a bit and grabbed a bite to eat.
Back at the campsite, the evening brought live music, pizza, and s’mores by the fire. We ended up sharing our camp fire with a kind family from Maryland who traded stories of Yellowstone adventures and offered tips for exploring the Grand Tetons. Their older kids even connected with ours, chatting about books and options for Catholic high schools.
It may not have been a typical vacation day, but it was exactly what we needed—a chance to restock, reset, and relax.
