I took a. Those last week for a vendor conference. As far as meetings go it was awesome. As far as travel goes, it was disappointing. The cruise was nice (Royal Caribbean), but was a commercial endeavor.

I was excited to see Haiti, but I am not sure if I actually did. The place Royal Caribbean takes you, Labadee, is a fenced off peninsula owned by Royal Caribbean. The food is the same as Royal Caribbean, the buildings were built by Royal Caribbean, even the gift shop was the same gifts as on the Royal Caribbean boat. They didn't have Haitian food or Rum, or even a way to get to the city.

We did take an excursion off Labadee. However it wasn't much better. Billed as a "cultural tour" of a Hatian village, it was actually a set with actors. You knew instantly that no one lived In this village, and the people we met were just playing a part. They didn't even bother to light the fire they were pretending to cook on.

All in all it was a good story. Even if I don't know anything more about Haiti than before. Plus, it beat the normal board room business meeting.
