The Pistons private jet ride and Treetops golf

Written By: Dan
I am one lucky dude.  Today I was given the privilege of taking RoundBall One to Tree Tops.    Let me explain.

RoundBall one the the Piston's private jet.  Yes, the jet the Pistons players fly on to get to and from games.  Because Nuspire has a suite, we were treated to a trip of a lifetime.  The Jet departed from the Piston's private hanger (Guardian Glass Hanger) at Metro.  This is the way to fly!  No lines, no boarding zones, tickets.  Just an ID and quick security screen and you are on your way.  Some people arrive around 15 minutes before departure.  The plane itself is unreal.  It is the size of a regular regional jet.  The inside of the plan has been gutted and remodeled.  The seats are designed to make a seven footer feel comfortable.  The seats make first class seating seem small.  Some of the rows are inverted to face each other, with a table in the center.  I bet millions have been bet on those tables between games.  We didn't have time to play a card game.  Only 45 minutes to Gaylord for the next stage of our trip.

The next stage was golf at Tree Tops Golf Course.  Tree Tops has to be the best course I have ever played.  I can't say it was my best round, but I enjoyed it none the less.  We even has a 45 minute rain delay, but no one's mood dampened one bit.

We left around 4pm from Gaylord, and were back to Metro in a heartbeat.  I was to Gaylord, golfed 18, and was back home for dinner.

Not a bad day in the office.

Lions home opener 2011

Written By: Dan
After our night at the Twilight Benefit Gala we went back to Aunt Donna's for a good night's sleep.  We woke up the next morning and headed to the Lions 2011 home opener.

Before the game we headed to the Lions Tail Gate at the Detroit Athletic Club (DAC).  They had a buffet, band, and face painting (see Annie's Lion above).

The tailgate was just he start of the excitement.  This opener was like none other.  For starters, they killed the Chiefs.  48-3.  The largest blow out in Lions history.  Even up by 40 points, most of the crowd stayed and watched in awe of the shlacking.

After this long weekend, we were beat.  Hobee, Annie and I headed back home for a much needed nap.

Twilight awards gala

Written By:  Dan
This is one of my favorite days of the year.  The Twilight Benefit Awards Gala.  Again, this year's gala was held on the Ovation Yacht.  This year's award winners ( L. Brooks Patterson, Dawn Estelle, Stewart Francke, Laurie Tarter, and Johnny Imerman) were presented by honoree's from last year (Ryan LaFontain, Richard Bernstein, and Abbie Hamilton), and local personalities (Mrs. Teen Michigan, Phil Bertolini).   More about the awards and the recipients can be found here.

This year we were pleased to have some of our family join us.  Aunt Donna, my mom, Rick, and Suzanna joing us on the boat.  A great time was had by all.  We raised a lot of money for the Charlie Porter Research Grant and The Rainbow Connection.  It was great to see the hard work of the Twilight Board pay off.
