The Land of St. Kitts

Last week we were blessed to get out of the snow and onto a tropical island. St. Kitts is located in the West Indies, Eastern Caribbean. This is such a majestic Island; with Mountains, Volcanoes, Black Sand Beaches, and year around weather between 75 and 80 degrees.

Some interesting facts about St. Kitts:

- One of a handful of places with black sand beaches.

- Swearing is illegal! $500 fine for first offense, jail for repeat offenders.

- The taxi drivers stay with you the entire time you go out. So if you go to dinner, they wait for you to finish and take you back. The taxi driver will take you around all day for about $11!

- The locals speak English, but also have a language consisting of English words, but at such a fast pace and rhythm you cannot understand one syllable. It sounds like a completely different language all together. Slaves started it during the slave trade days of the island as a way to talk around the owner's.

Dan and Annie stayed at the St. Kitts Marriott, their flagship Caribbean resort for 5 days. Over that time they were able to go deep sea fishing, tour the island, pet a monkey, see the rain forest, black rock cliff and beaches, and relax by the water.
